The setting is the time and place of the story.
What to Do?
1. Read one Western fable (Aesop's collection) and one Hispanic fable. Fill out a setting organizer for one of the fables you read.
2. Complete a venn diagram comparing the settings of the two fables. Do you notice a difference in the setting of the Western fable and the setting of the Hispanic fable?

Group One Activity
Pick one of the fables from the link of the Aesop's collection on the homepage. Then, pick one of the Puerto Ricab fables from the collection on the homepage. Fill out the setting organizer for the setting of one of the fables.
Group Two Activity
Read one of the Aesop's fables from the link on the homepage and one of the Puerto Rican fables from the link on the homepage. Fill out a setting organizer for one of the fables.

Setting Terms:
Time: time period or time of day of the action; this also could include the season
Place: the location of the story
Environment/ mood: the feeling or emotion the setting creates in the reader
Dialect: the words or sayings an author uses from a specific part of the world to make the story sound more authentic
Culture/ customs: the traditions or values of a group of people
